I have a question that's always troubled me, but I thought I'd not post it on the forum to protect the members that are not yet grounded in the Lord. In the book of 1 Samuel 28:5-20 it says: When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. And when Saul inquired of the Lord , the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets. Then Saul said to his servants, “Find me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “In fact, there is a woman who is a medium at En Dor.” So Saul disguised himself and put on other clothes, and he went, and two men with him; and they came to the woman by night. And he said, “Please conduct a séance for me, and bring up for me the one I shall name to you.” Then the woman said to him, “Look, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and the spiritists from the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?” And Saul swore to her by the Lord , saying, “ As the Lord lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.” Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” And he said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!” And the king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What did you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I saw a spirit ascending out of the earth.” So he said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is covered with a mantle.” And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed down. Now Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may reveal to me what I should do.” Then Samuel said: “So why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? And the Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David. Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.” Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, and was dreadfully afraid because of the words of Samuel. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no food all day or all night.

Now my question is how was a medium, a woman who obviously works through demonic spirits, able to bring up a man of God who was dead and buried already? I find it hard to get around how the whole thing worked. Also does this mean that when mediums say they are speaking to a dead person that they are in fact speaking to the dead and not some demon pretending to be that person? If that is the case does it mean the dead can actually be talked to by the living? I know that séance is one of the things the Lord talks about in Deutoronomy 18:10-12 that are an abomination to him. So that's why I am having trouble comprehending the Lord's prophet being subject to this. Also we have a pandemic especially in my part of the world where people worship ancestors and they go to spiritual healers and get to hear what their dead relatives have to say. Based on this scripture are they justified to believe they are hearing from their dead? This has been troubling me for a while, I pray that the Lord can reveal to you what I need to know.

No. This is rather one of these rare topic, and you shouldn't see any reason shielding it from the pub.



Now note the bolds especially the highs [letters] as follows :



1. Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” And he said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” WHEN THE WOMAN SAW SAMUEL, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me?


Let's take it from here. 

Note the word SAW which simply means(in this case) ; it's was the lords doing and or the only option the lord had to deliver his final judgment(message) on Saul since his spirit had left saul. 


This Also teaches us that the lord does as he pleases. The lord can speak through the mouth of the stone,cause the mountain to speak on his behalf, i.e mediums/sorcerer.

No wonder, the lord caused a mere donkey to speak on his behalf for Balaam.


No wonder , the book of isaiah  says.. :


â—„ Isaiah 55:10-12 â–º


As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

So you see, it wasn't because mediums are capable, or are worthy to cause God to speak but because it's established that even the lord could cause mountain,the beast of the earth, bird of air, the least significance things to speak on his behalf. 

Just like with Balaam and what jesus said in the bible verse above. 

While you must also note that it wasn't the medium doings/power but that of the lord that samuel spirit was cause to speak hence the medium(s) exclaimed and was afraid at the same time .


I have heard of a story " a woman go to consult a native doc (it happened here in nigeria) to seek solution to her problem. Actually after a minute of consultation the native doc told the woman ;


" I can't help you, I'd advise you to go and make peace with your maker "

So you see? From the story above the lord spoke to her through " the stone" (native doc) ?

Now take note of this bible verse as well :

When the LORD takes pleasure in anyone's way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them.

Who is your/our enemy in this case? 

Native doc, sorcerer, even the devil itself. 

And that's because? " the earth/heavens is the lord and all that dwell therein "

Halleluyah!!



Mind you this doesn't justified( what Paul did).... that we should seek alternative god apart from the the lord. The lord will not be please. 





Remember, the earth is the lords, the world and all who live in it? Remember now?

Hence, the medium(s) exclaimed/cried out and/or afraid. 

No wonder even the sorcerer/mediums fear the lord? Isn't it. Simply, that's because it wwasnt her/their doing its the lord will to speak through these stones. 


Now talking about invoking the spirit of the dead (not in today's (bible) time) ofcourse these are demon, and yes the spirit of the dead ones who died without before their time, accepting jesus do roams not in all cases by the way.

So, the devil tend to have power over their body, spirit and soul and hence present them when the need arises and it servant/agents : sorcerer,mediums etc conjures these souls. 


These soul doesn't belong to jesus, no wonder the bible/jesus say '.

Then Jesus said to them, "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." And they were amazed at him.



So you see? What's of God belongs to him alone and what belong to the devil/HELL is of the devil. 


Above all, you must understand that the bible(old) days is different from(new testament) our lord jesus days Lot of water has passed under the bridge.

 

The old laws(how the lord communicates, relate with us now) doesn't tally with the way he used to during the bible days because during this period the saviour was yet to be born or sent hence he came to correct to many wrongs. 


And if in any case u come across those mediums who claims they can conjure dead spirit, they can ofcourse but not in the same manner as far as the spirit belong to jesus,kingdom of God neither is such spirit is real spirit but  a demon or the devil in disguise. 

This has been his/it tricked. He's a liar, master of it at that.
